Our design philosophy draws deeply from the principles of Wabi-sabi, embracing the inherent imperfections and transient nature of time. We believe that a historical building, with its layers of stories and weathered textures, possesses a unique soul. Rather than masking these elements, we seek to accentuate them, integrating modern comforts seamlessly while respecting the building's original character. This approach honors the past while creating spaces that resonate with a timeless tranquility, fostering a sense of connection to both history and the present moment.
We prioritize the use of sustainable and locally sourced natural materials such as reclaimed wood, hand-crafted ceramics, and natural stone. These materials not only contribute to the aesthetic richness of the space but also promote a healthier indoor environment.
By minimizing our environmental footprint and supporting local artisans, we strive to create interiors that are both beautiful and responsible. The resulting spaces are imbued with a sense of authenticity and warmth, fostering a profound connection to nature and a deep appreciation for the enduring beauty of simplicity.
About Winnie
Winnie’s design journey is a unique blend of Eastern heritage and Western influence, a fusion that shapes their perspective and approach to problem-solving. Born in the vibrant, bustling metropolis of Hong Kong, she was immersed in a culture that values tradition, harmony, and meticulous attention to detail. The intricate craftsmanship of traditional Chinese and Japanese arts and the elegant simplicity of calligraphy instilled in her an appreciation for beauty in both the grand and the subtle.
At a young age, Winnie and her family relocated to the sunny shores of California, where she was introduced to a world of innovation, creativity, and boundless possibilities. The open-mindedness and entrepreneurial spirit of the West encouraged her to explore new ideas, challenge conventions, and embrace experimentation. She was captivated by the bold designs of American architecture, the vibrant colors of pop art, and the sleek functionality of modern technology.
This cross-cultural upbringing has shaped Winnie's design philosophy, allowing her to draw inspiration from both the East and the West. She strives to create designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional, meaningful, and culturally sensitive.
